CIMS

Cancer Information Management System

At present information for clinical decision making, treatment implementation and administrative monitoring of the service comes from many different sources and collation of this involves a great deal of staff time and is often inefficient to the detriment of excellent integrated patient care.

This can be resolved by the development and implementation of a Cancer Information Management System (CIMS) for the Trust. CIMS will provide system support for Multi-Disciplinary teams (MDT) and enable National Cancer Waiting Times reporting of the new targets given in the Cancer Reform Strategy

The Cancer Information Management System will enable:

Clinicians and administrative teams to manage cancer patients within increasingly complex, cross site meetings.

Fulfilment of current and future national performance requirements for cancer.

Collection of data to judge clinical performance

Core Benefits of the system

Provides an integrated MDT solution for the Trust, improving cross site communication and making better use of Trust resources

Captures all Cancer Waiting Times reporting in a single solution.

Allows for further extension to other sites, and possibly throughout the rest of London

Excelicare can provide software process support for the full life-cycle of the Multi-Disciplinary team (MDT) meeting and decision-making processes, while also enabling National Cancer Waiting Times reporting of the new targets given in the Cancer Reform Strategy by the deadline of December 2008.

The implementation of the CIMS is critical to:

Enabling clinicians & administrative teams to manage cancer patients within increasingly complex, cross -site meetings.

Fulfilling current & future national performance requirements for cancer.

Collecting data to judge the clinical performance of the Trust
